L’ortolan, located in the beautiful village of Shinfield, is Reading’s only Michelin starred restaurant.
Chefs Alan Murchison and Nick Chappell are passionate about their cooking, but ensures that the same quality of interpretation extends right through the whole experience – it is as integral to the wine, the service and the style of the environment as it is to their food.
In addition to the main restaurant, l’ortolan can offer three private dining rooms for you to choose from, each with their own unique flavour, and for larger parties the main restaurant and Glass Room are available for exclusive use– and all with no room hire charge.

Opening Hours:
Restaurant reservations are available between the following times. You will usually be seated 30 minutes after your booking time to allow you to enjoy a drink in the bar and select from the menu.
Lunch: Tues – Sat 12:00pm – 2.00pm
Dinner: Tues – Thurs 7:00pm – 9.00pm, Fri – Sat 7.00pm – 9.30pm
Please note that we are closed on Sunday and Monday but can open on these days by prior arrangement.
